Hi,
Ya know taking your paw pals on vacation is grrrreat providing you find a place that will accept them. Also some places only accept small dogs under thirty pounds. Several books on vacationing with your pets or pet friendly facilities list plenty of locations but do not mention that there are weight limits and even time limits. It gets quite exasperating when you call these places. My Mollie sat by the phone with her big doe eyes and she looked like she was about to cry after every unsuccessful phone call. Finally, the Mrs. checked a website-www.petswelcome.com and we struck poop dirt, whoops, I mean pay dirt. We found a place within the Delaware Water Gap in Burtonville called Rim Rock Cottages which takes all size dogs. The place is mmmmmmGood. Each guest and their four-leggeds gets an A-frame ski chalet like building complete with loft, double beds up and down, kitchenette, bathroom and shower. Very rustic. The grounds are quite nice for human and dog walking. Dogs MUST be on a leash and poopy bags are a must. There are two ponds currently being visited by a flock of Canada Geese, which my Rosie(a BC) wanted to herd. The surrounding area (the Poconos) is quite interesting. All of us(ROSIE & Mollie included) went to Bush kill Falls, the Niagara of the Delaware River. We huffed and puffed up and down the woodland steps along the falls. Our girls did quite well. That night we went to Mt. Pocono for some I.C. treats. If you ever get up there try a flavor called Moose Tracks. Well anyway we loved being kenneled with our girls at Rim Rock Cottages. BTW, we don't get any commission. We just loved the place and plan on going back for Fall foliage. It's open all year and in Winter there is nearby skiing. Thank you very mutts for listening.

Tips: If your traveling away from home you might want to take some of your local water for your dogs and dilute the vacation area water with your local water. Also, carry a copy of your poochies vaccination certificate just in case. Also, a doggie first aid kit.
